Mr. Muccio
Mr. James Muccio has been teaching band in Moore County for the
past 24 years. His bands have received consistent Superior and
Excellent ratings at both concert and marching band festivals in North
Carolina, as well as out-of-state festivals in Georgia, Virginia,
Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania and Washington DC. He holds
degrees from the University of Bridgeport (Bachelor of Science in
Music Education) and Appalachian State University (Master of Music
in Performance), and has been a member of the Southeastern District
Bandmasters Association for over 20 years. Each year he has had
students participate in the All-District clinic, as well as frequent
participation in All-State, UNCG, UNC Chapel Hill, and UNC
Pembroke Honor Bands.

In addition to his current position, he has also taught band at North Moore High, Southern Pines
Middle, Vass-Lakeview Elementary, Westmoore Elementary and Sandhills Farmlife Elementary
Schools (all in Moore County) and Pine Ridge High School and Middle School (in Pine Ridge,
South Dakota). He was a member of the 1977 and 1978 Senior Drum and Bugle Corps World
Championship Long Island Sunrisers and the 1970 U.S.T.A. National Championship Huntington
Thunderers. As a professional musician, Mr. Muccio has played with jazz and classical ensembles
from Boone to Wilmington, and has been a judge at local marching band festivals. He has served as
a trumpeter, drummer, and elder in a local church. He resides with his wife in Carthage, NC.
